There, again, was that same implicit trust: Jyn not questioning when he began moving them or looking to see what he was doing, simply trusting that he had something in mind. The reason became clear soon enough anyway, when he sat her atop a rock. She shifted her weight slightly as she settled, but stayed wrapped around him, kissing him just as intently in turn.
They were, probably, getting carried away. She couldn't bring herself to care. Her hands slid into his hair again, fingers gently tangling, a quiet cue that she was more than all right with the direction this seemed to be going.
His kiss moved from her lips to her neck, his hands from the small of her back to cup her lower. Before he started to drag against her in earnest, his head raised again so he could breathe in her ear, “This okay?”
Her head fell back and to the side as his mouth dropped to her neck, leaving her throat more fully exposed to him. She stayed like that even when he lifted his head to speak again, his voice and breath so close to her ear sending a chill through her that had nothing to do with the cool water or their lack of clothes. "Yes," she exhaled, quiet and emphatic. As if to punctuate her own statement, she rolled her hips forward against his, the motion slight but encouraging. "Very."
His smile grazed her ear before he was again kissing his way down.
…and down, and…
He slipped into the water up to his shoulders. Still holding her behind, he moved in to kiss her between her legs—his eyes alternately closed and raising to her face.
Although his intention was clear enough, Jyn couldn't hide the way her breath caught at the press of his mouth between her legs. Where they'd been wrapped around his waist moments before, she let them fall further open now, one hand leaving his hair to rest on the rock behind her. Even now that they very much were doing this, the getting part of getting carried away no longer really applicable, she almost couldn't believe it. They were alone, but that could easily change, and she had a hard enough time letting herself be so vulnerable around one person, never mind out in the open.
If she were thinking more clearly or prone to further self-analyzing, she might find that it made sense that she would feel safe enough with him to take this sort of chance.
"Still okay," she said. While she meant for the words to be teasing, they came out instead breathless with want and anticipation.
He had no thought of anyone coming upon them. As far as he was concerned, they were the only people in the world.
A remarkable thing for him to think or feel: someone whose danger sense was so hair-trigger. But it was true. This felt protected.
He let his motions be guided by her hand in his hair, whether she realized she was moving him or not. And her voice hardened him fully under the water, so his body concaved, bowing him deeper to her, to his task. He loved the movement of her hips in his hands, against and around his face; he loved every texture and taste; he loved feeling her pulse and breath; he loved.
Gradually, her breathing grew shallower, less even. It was probably ridiculous how quickly he could get under her skin, how they could barely keep their hands off each other, the two of them as bad as lovesick teenagers in the kind of stupid holo she was never interested in watching. But then, she reminded herself, it was new for both of them. Before had no bearing here. It was just them: two people still learning each other, and the way he made her feel so utterly undone.
With the hand in his hair, she was careful not to push or pull forcefully, touching him more for the sake of it than anything else; her legs, where they'd been spread wide, now hooked over his shoulders. It wasn't, she realized, the physical sensations of it that made her chest ache and her body taut, at least not primarily. The way he touched her, worked his mouth against her, somehow made her feel loved. She'd known so little of that, and she'd thought she never would again.
"Cassian," she panted, a plea and an encouragement and a dozen other things rolled into one. More than anything, though, it was just that she liked being able to say his name.
In the past, he hadn't welcomed the sound of his name; but from her, the quality of her voice, it made his hands tighten just a little on her flesh, pulling her deeper to his lips and tongue, moving with her and moving her though his mouth remained constant on its precious pinpoint focus. She was hard there, too, and wet from more than the pool, and he laved her ceaselessly as the waters flowed around them, misting them and refracting the light.
Attentive as he was, it was no wonder that it didn't take terribly long for Jyn to feel herself getting closer to the edge, her body tense and trembling over and around him. Granted, she had no particular awareness of time anyway, of anything that wasn't him, him, him, his mouth sweet against her in a way that verged on overwhelming. Her breath stuttered, and she had to loosen her hand in his hair to ensure she didn't grip it more tightly instead. "Cas," she breathed again, and this time, it was meant to tell him what he likely already knew: that it wouldn't take much more to get her there.
His own breath shivered out of him upon her, uninterrupting the warmth and the flow, and his hands moved her behind as his mouth moved with her in front, and his body arched in the water, showing her he was feeling it with her, only more and more aroused by her pleasure, enthralled to be raising her there.
Within moments, the orgasm that had been building hit. Jyn gasped with it, something that was nearly his name again, her hips rocking forward under his hands, against his mouth. As she shuddered, riding it out, she slumped back onto the rock behind her, weight on her elbows and head tipped back. It was, again, patently absurd the effect he had on her. Right now, she wasn't anything but appreciative of it.
"Stars," she said, the word a heavy rush of air as she tried to catch her breath. Her eyes closed for a moment, the cool mist from the waterfall landing on her face.
He exhaled a shivering laugh. He rose up from the water enough to kiss and rest his head on her stomach.
…And for a surprising moment, imagined her pregnant.
By now, they'd had the contraceptive conversation. Jyn was on an oral one, Cassian had an implant. He'd gotten it checked sometime after Bix left—stunned to find it had expired, hopefully not while they were still active [ooc: oops]—when his newly single status had started attracting… suitors. He hadn't slept with any of them, but he'd still had a full checkup and renewed the implant. So with Jyn, he knew he was safe and clean.
Which was good, because part of the conversation was establishing that neither of them wanted to have kids. Jyn, quite firmly. So why was he suddenly imagining…
Because the fleeting fantasy wasn't about the reality of bringing a child into any world or what he'd be like as a parent. It was about this drive having purpose and power, something so primal and deep. He was glad there was no realistic chance of it, but perhaps it made sense that the image rose from his unthinking body.
For now, he rested his head on and breathed with her.
Where her elbows had been supporting her weight a moment before, Jyn lay back flat now, wanting her hands freed. Again, she reached for his hair, fingers idly combing through it, slow and grounding. She had never been someone especially clingy — had never had room in her life for that, given the way she was raised and the lack of anyone's consistent presence in her life. Since Cassian's reappearance in her life, though, it was like she could barely stand to stop touching him in some way. Ridiculous, really, not least with him half draped over her like this. Ridiculous that he could make her heart race the way he did. Touching him wasn't going to keep him here with her. Still, she couldn't curb the impulse.
"Well, this is a first," she said, her breathing beginning to steady. The customary trace of wry amusement was back in her voice, though with a deep undercurrent of affection. As stupid as she thought she was to let herself fall headfirst into this again, even more stupid was to have let herself think for even a second that she could have lessened the extent of or resisted her feelings for him. Some part of her was, always would be, irrevocably his.
He turned his head into her touch, his lips again to her skin, and he kissed his way, this time, up her body 'til he reached her face. "First time… outside?" He angled himself to be more at her side than above, but still unmistakable how hard for her he was.
"Mmhmm," Jyn answered, humming against his mouth, lips curved into a lazy, contented smile as she kissed him. Her hands roamed now, skimming over jaw and neck and shoulders, again touching him simply for the sake of it. Even with the way he angled his body to her side, she could feel how hard he was, and playing oblivious just to make him wait wasn't the sort of thing that interested her in the slightest. Likewise, she wasn't about to rush when she could instead savor being close to him. "Glad we came here."
She was already thinking she would have to remember this spot. Not just for reasons involving sex — well, not entirely or primarily — but because it felt like something that was theirs. She hadn't been to this specific location with anyone else. It felt good to have something that existed entirely in the present, with no past.
As her hands smoothed over him, he moved with them, softly aching and arching to her, their kiss moving through all of him. He combed his fingers through her wet hair, his arm braced to press their chests together, though he still kept his hips angled aside.
In turn, her back arched to press her closer to him, hands sliding lower in the process, over shoulder blades and spine, down until she reached his hips. It was exactly the sort of thoughtful she would have imagined and had already begun to see from him, that he seemed to make a point of not pressuring or imposing any expectations on her. Jyn appreciated that more than she would have known how to say, but also, right now, the restraint was far from necessary. She had no intention of stopping as long as he didn't either.
"Is this good?" she asked, still close against his mouth, her slight smile carrying into her voice. Logistically, it seemed like it would do well enough, but she didn't want to speak for him or make any assumptions when he was the one still standing in the water. The question, too, was meant to be a confirmation that she did want to continue. "We can move, if you'd rather."
Her voice, her smile, beautifully went through him. He answered breathlessly, "It's good." And shifted under her hands 'til their bodies were perfectly aligned. He rubbed against her, between her legs, and as all the air left his lungs, he managed to exhale with it, "Yes?"
"Yes," Jyn replied, breathless in turn, a slight but emphatic nod accompanying the word. Again, she liked that he didn't just take her response for granted, but for her, that response was an easy one. She wanted him as close as she could get him, the feeling both electric and magnetic, and nothing she was about to shy away from.
He breathed gladness, gratitude to be with her, so grateful to be hearing her, seeing her, feeling her, he never wanted anything else; and he kissed her again with fierce tenderness, and gently pushed his hips and slid inside. He felt every millimetre rising along himself. His chest sharply rose and fell again as the feeling jolted through every part of him. So hot, so slick, so tight and soft, all her. A groan escaped him of "I love you… oh Jyn." as his hips drew up and back, pulling him through her, along her soft tissues and inner clitoral nerves.
Jyn held him close as he pressed into her, arms and legs both wrapped around him, the air leaving her lungs in a shuddering exhale. Even more breathtaking than the sensation itself was the accompanying statement. They'd both said it, had kept saying it; still somehow it never stopped feeling both surreal and powerful to hear it from him. "I love you," she echoed, hushed and fervent, before she kissed him again, her hips moving with his. If she had effectively tuned out the rest of the world earlier, it fully ceased to exist now, leaving nothing but him and this and them, and the way she felt at once hungry and sated.
His kiss turned into a smile. His hands came up to frame her face and he pulled back to look into her eyes. Then he bowed to her again, and kissed her mouth, her throat; back flexing as he labored below. The pool lapped and waterfall murmured them on.
Even with as briefly as she saw it, Jyn felt a surge of fondness within her when she glimpsed his smile. It was one of her favorite things, the way it softened his whole face, and if that was maybe a ridiculous line of thought at a time like this, she couldn't bring herself to care. It all came from the same place, anyway. She loved him — and whatever else she had tried or wanted to be the case, that simply couldn't be undone.
Her head tipped back again as he mouthed at her throat, her fingers tracing muscles and scars along his back and sides, her hips still working steadily, insistently in time with his. Moving in sync with him was as natural during sex as it ever had been during combat, something that just clicked,
Neck craning slightly, she leaned in to kiss his jaw, his cheek. "Cassian," she breathed, "oh."
He turned his head, tracing her cheek with his nose and lips, breathing back "Jyn… Jyn…" Needing her against him completely, he wrapped his arms around her and brought her up to him, holding her so she needn't hold herself up, pressing them in full, both braced on the slick rock with their legs in water which they made a tidal pool with their thrusts.
Jyn inhaled sharply at the change in angle as he drew her up to him, struck again by how easily, how unthinkingly she let him maneuver her. When she'd had other partners in the past (with, of course, one significant exception that may or may not have actually counted as one, and that she very much was not thinking about right now) it had never been like this. Sex was just sex. Some element of trust was required, but still a carefully guarded one, nothing at all like the trust she placed in him. Certainly there was none of the same affection or emotional connection. It was a strange, heady concept, one she wouldn't have known how to explain if she tried.
And now wouldn't be the time to try anyway. With this better vantage point, she ducked her head this time, kissing back down his jaw to his neck and collar bone, staying pressed close to him all the while.
